European commissioner for fisheries & oceans

Commissioner Costas Kadis leads the EU’s Fisheries and Oceans policy, focusing on implementing a long-term vision for a resilient, competitive, and sustainable European fisheries and aquaculture sector to secure Europe’s food sovereignty. He is also responsible for the EU’s global efforts to restore ocean health, ensure maritime security, and support coastal communities across Europe.

A Professor of Biodiversity Conservation at Frederick University in Cyprus, Commissioner Kadis has held several ministerial positions for the Republic of Cyprus, including Minister of Health, Minister of Education and Culture, and Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment. He also led the Greek Cypriot Technical Committee on the Environment, engaging in reunification talks with his Turkish Cypriot counterpart.

Born in Nicosia in 1967, he graduated from the University of Athens with a degree in Biology in 1991 and earned a PhD in Conservation Biology in 1995. He furthered his education through postgraduate courses, including one on scientific research administration at Cornell University. His professional career began as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Athens before joining Frederick University in 2005, where he established the Nature Conservation Unit and served as Dean of the School of Education.

Prof. Kadis is an accomplished scholar, authoring or co-authoring six books and over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles on natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and environmental education. His extensive contributions reflect a lifelong commitment to sustainable development and ecological preservation.

Christos Dimas

Minister of infrastructure & transport

Christos Dimas is a lawyer and a Member of the Hellenic Parliament with Nea Demokratia, representing the district of Corinthia. He was born on 29 May 1980. He graduated from the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as from Queen Mary University of London. He obtained his Master’s degree in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

He also completed his PhD in European Politics from LSE, with a scholarship from the Alexander Onassis Public Benefit Foundation. The title of his PhD thesis is: “National institutional contexts and domestic discourse during proposed transformative policy change. The case of the telecoms’ privatization in Greece and the Republic of Ireland.” 

 In parallel to his studies, he worked as a London correspondent for the newspaper “Apogevmatini” and did a journalism internship at the BBC.

At the age of 25, he was an assistant lecturer at LSE, teaching first-year students the course “Introduction to Comparative Politics”. He has also taught the course “Mass Media and Social Regulation” at ICON College, University of Leicester to postgraduate students and was a research fellow at the Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence. He has scientific publications in Greek and international scientific journals.  

Before entering politics, he worked in the private sector as a business consultant for “The Boston Consulting Group (BCG)”, a strategic consulting firm.

He was elected as Member of Hellenic Parliament for Corinthia with New Democracy in the May and June 2012 elections, and has been continuously elected since then.

From July 2019 to May 2023, he served as Deputy Minister of Development and Investments, responsible for Research & Innovation.

From June 2023 to June 2024, he was Deputy Minister of Culture, responsible for Contemporary Culture.

From June 2024, he was Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance.

From March 2025 until today, by decision of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, he has been Minister of Infrastructure and Transport.

In his spare time, he plays football and basketball, and reads history books.

He is married to lawyer Nikoleta Syrengela and they have a daughter, Alkisti – Stefania and a son, Stavros – Konstantinos.

Dimitris Zafeiris

Dimitris Zafeiris, Head of Department 

Dimitris Zafeiris is Head of the Risks and Financial Stability Department and is responsible for EIOPA’s  activities in the areas of financial stability, crisis management and studies and statistics.  

Before joining EIOPA, Dimitris ran the risk management unit in a commercial bank where he was  responsible for the management of projects such as the implementation of Basel II and external asset  quality reviews. Prior to this, Dimitris held roles as investment director, portfolio manager and analyst  in a number of firms in the asset management industry. Dimitris holds a Master of Science in Finance  and a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

Ο Χρήστος Ζερεφός είναι Επόπτης του Κέντρου Ερεύνης Φυσικής της Ατμοσφαίρας και Κλιματολογίας της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών και Εθνικός Εκπρόσωπος για την Κλιματική Αλλαγή, ενώ έχει διατελέσει καθηγητής σε κορυφαία πανεπιστήμια στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Έχει τιμηθεί ως Επίτιμος Καθηγητής του ΑΠΘ και Ομότιμος Καθηγητής του ΕΚΠΑ, καθώς και ως Επίτιμος Διδάκτωρ του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών, του Δημοκριτείου Πανεπιστημίου Θράκης και του Αμερικανικού Κολεγίου ANATOLIA.

Έχει συντονίσει ή συμμετάσχει σε περισσότερα από 60 ερευνητικά έργα υψηλού κύρους κυρίως με διεθνή χρηματοδότηση, συνεργαζόμενος με κορυφαίους επιστήμονες παγκοσμίως. Έχει τιμηθεί με κορυφαίες διακρίσεις όπως το Παράσημο του Ταξιάρχη του Τάγματος της Τιμής από τον Πρόεδρο της Δημοκρατίας και το Παράσημο του Ταξιάρχη του Ακαδημαϊκού Φοίνικα από τη Γαλλική Κυβέρνηση. Έχει βραβευθεί με το Παγκόσμιο Βραβείο Όζοντος, που είναι η ανώτερη διάκριση που δίδεται στον τομέα αυτόν, από το Πρόγραμμα Περιβάλλοντος του ΟΗΕ. Έχει λάβει πολλαπλές Εύφημες Μνείες από το ίδιο Πρόγραμμα. Spyros Theodoropoulos

Spyros Theodoropoulos leads the food group BESPOKE SGA HOLDINGS SA, which he founded in early 2022 by acquiring NIKAS, ION, AMBROSIA and HELLENIC JUICES employing 1,500 people.

He began in 1976 at the family-owned dairy production company Recor S.A. In 1989, he acquired CHIPITA with the aim of implementing the innovative idea of producing packaged long shelf-life croissants, for the first time worldwide. In 2006, CHIPITA merged with the companies DELTA, Goody’s, and Barba Stathis, creating the Group VIVARTIA. In 2007, VIVARTIA was acquired by MIG, and Spyros Theodoropoulos continued to hold the position of CEO.

In 2010, Spyros Theodoropoulos, together with the Olayan Group and other Greek entrepreneurs, reacquired CHIPITA, which he developed into one of the leading companies in bakery snacks globally. CHIPITA was acquired by MONDELEZ in 2021, in a landmark deal for the Greek food sector.

He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of SEV Hellenic Federation of Enterprises.

He has served as Chairman of the Association of Listed Companies, Vice Chairman of the Athens Stock Exchange, member of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece, member of the Board of Directors of Public Power Corporation and a member of the General Council of the Bank of Greece.

Theodora Antonakaki

CEO Space Hellas

Theodora Antonakaki, Director of Bank of Greece’s Climate Change and Sustainability Centre  (CCSC), is coordinating BoG’s work on climate, sustainability and research at the Climate Change  Impacts Study Committee (CCISC) and representing BoG at the Network of Central Banks and  Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) and at the newly established Eurosystem  Climate Change Forum, where she has been appointed Chair for a two-year term (2025-2026). 

She is a member of Hellenic Ministry of Finance’s working group for Sustainable Finance and  Green Economy Transition and she has been an advisor on issues of sustainability and  socioeconomic impact in a wide range of projects, in planning, urban and architectural design. Ηer work has gained awards from Europa Nostra and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark,  while she has been honored, by the French Republic, with the title of Knight of the French National  Order of Merit (Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite), as an acknowledgment for her 

contributions to climate and sustainability issues. She is a graduate of the Polytechnic School of  the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of London, where she was an Honorary  Research Fellow. She has lectured at the Syracuse University, the University of Stirling, the School  of Nordic Urban Design and has taught at the Hellenic Open University. Her work has been  published at peer reviewed journals and she has written book chapters in edited books. 

Serpil Günal

Serpil Günal serves as the General Secretary of the Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (TCIP), known in Turkish as Doğal Afet Sigortaları Kurumu (DASK).

Experienced insurance professional with a strong background in agricultural and natural disaster insurance. Proven track record in policy development, risk assessment, and stakeholder coordination. Currently working at the Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (DASK), with prior experience in the Agricultural Insurance Pool (TARSİM). Skilled in data-driven decision making, process optimization, and public-private insurance systems

Serpil Günal is a seasoned executive in the insurance sector, specializing in catastrophe risk management and public-private insurance models. As the General Secretary of TCIP, she plays a pivotal role in enhancing Türkiye’s resilience to natural disasters through innovative insurance solutions. Her leadership contributes significantly to the development of sustainable risk transfer mechanisms and the promotion of disaster awareness nationwide.

Alexandros Bregiannis

Alexandros Bregiannis is CEO of Nova ICT and Group Public Sector & ICT Advisor for United Group.

In the field of telecommunications and IT, he has successfully led important positions of responsibility in multinational companies, where he managed a number of the country’s largest ICT projects.  He was NOVA’s Public Sector & ICT Executive Director, developing the ICT sector and technology projects.

He is a graduate of the Department of Physics, University of Patras, holder of a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Medical Physics, as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Athens University of Economics and Business. He was born in Athens, is married and has two daughters.

Reinhard Mechler

Principal research scholar and group leader of the Systemic Risk and Resilience Group’s (SYRR) Advancing Systems Analysis Program (ASA)

Reinhard Mechler has about 25 years of experience with analysing and addressing socio-economic aspects of disaster and climate change risks. He provides evidence-based advice to a wide range of public and private sector stakeholders in order to improve resilience-focussed decision-making on disaster, climate and other risks. As the head of the ‘Systemic Risk and Resilience’ Group at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), he currently leads a team of about 25 economists, political scientists, geographers, sociologists, ecologists and mathematicians. He has been acting as a visiting professor at the University of Graz, as well as a senior lecturer at the University for Economics and Business in Vienna.

Dr. Mechler has been leading and contributing to many international research and consultancy projects and is currently leading research for the Climate Resilience Alliance, which brings together researchers, international NGOs and the private sector to build disaster and climate resilience across the globe. He acted as a lead author on IPCC’s special report on adaptation to extreme events (SREX), the 5th assessment report, the report on 1.5 ° C global warming and the 6th assessment report.

Emma Watkins

Head of Exposure management at PoloWorks and former head of Catastrophe Risk at Lloyds

Emma Watkins is currently Head of Exposure Management at Polo Managing Agency, working with new and innovative Lloyd’s syndicates to establish appropriate strategies for managing catastrophe risk. Previously she spent 6.5 years at Lloyd’s, latterly as Head of Catastrophe Risk, where her teams’ responsibilities were to understand and control catastrophe risk at the individual syndicate and market levels. This included oversight of natural and non-natural (e.g. cyber, terrorism, liability) catastrophe perils, as well as the development and implementation of the Lloyd’s Catastrophe Model and Lloyd’s oversight Principles for catastrophe exposure.

Prior to joining Lloyd’s, Emma held leadership positions in EM and Catastrophe Modelling at Aspen Re, Liberty Syndicates, WRB Underwriting and The Channel Syndicate (SCOR). She began her career 24 years ago in Treaty Reinsurance Underwriting at Wellington, after gaining a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. Emma is a Chartered Insurer and Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, holds the CCRA and CCRMP designations, and also sits on the boards of Oasis LMF and the ISCM.

Alex leads Aon’s International View of Risk Advisory team which delivers catastrophe model evaluation, climate analytics and model adjustments. The team works across Aon Risk Capital to provide Reinsurance and Commercial Risk clients with deep insights into their catastrophe risk. Alex has worked at Aon since 2015 and holds a MSc in Earth Science from the University of Manchester.

Yoav Yair

Professor of climate change and natural disasters, Reichman University

Prof. Yoav Yair is the outgoing Dean of the School of Sustainability at Reichman University in Herzliya, Israel. His main research fields include climate change, atmospheric electricity, thunderstorms and lightning (on Earth and other planets), transient luminous events (sprites), the effects of aerosols and pollution on clouds, as well as the cultural aspects of climate fiction in cinema and literature. 

Prof. Yair conducted ground-based observations and space-based experiments from the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. He was project manager for the 1st Israeli astronaut mission in 2003 (the MEIDEX); In 2022 he conducted the ILAN-ES experiment on-board the ISS, as part of Rakia Mission, with Israel’s 2nd astronaut Mr. Eytan Stibbe on the private AX-1 flight, which he repeated in 2024 on AX-3. 

He is an expert on Learning Technologies and served as head of the Center for Technology in Distance Education at the Open University of Israel (2004-2009), and Dean of Development and Learning Technologies there (2009-2012), where he supervised the testing, dissemination and research of various new technologies in higher education, with focus on video, digital books and mobile reading devices. From 2012-2014 he headed the Israeli national Inter-University Center for Learning Technologies. At Reichman University, he worked with the Learning Innovation unit and uses VR and AR in his courses.

Prof. Yair is the author of several textbooks in meteorology and the atmospheric sciences and authored (and co-) over 180 refereed papers, with ~ 5000 citations and an h-index of 37. He is a frequent reviewer for most of the peer-reviewed journals in the atmospheric sciences. He is an experienced speaker, session chair and organizer of numerous professional meetings (EGU, AGU). He gives public lectures and popular radio talks on various topics in educational technology, astronomy, atmospheric science and space physics.

Ahmet Yalciner

The “Hamaguchi Award” is presented to individuals and/or organizations that have made significant scientific or pragmatic contributions to the enhancement of coastal resilience against tsunami, storm surge and other coastal disasters, which will raise people’s awareness of disaster resilience.   

One of the 2018 Awardee of “Outstanding Performance in Education Award” given annually by METU  Prof.  Dr.  M.  Parlar Education and Research Foundation

Emeritus Professor of Coastal and Ocean Engineering at the Middle East Technical University of Ankara. He carried out intensive research on mathematical modeling of tsunami and tropical cyclones in oceans and marginal seas. He led the post tsunami international field survey team of UNESCO after tsunami events in Japan, Indonesia  and Turkiye.  He has long term experience on 3-D physical modeling on coastal processes, wave-structure interactions, basin resonance, wave statistics, and disaster management. Professor Yalciner and his working group have participated numerous European Union funded international scientific projects on coastal and ocean engineering and disaster science. He jointly authored more than 100 international scientific publications.

Alexandros Georgiades

Head of weather risk modeling (EMEA) at Aon

Alexandros joined Impact Forecasting – Aon’s catastrophe model development centre of excellence in the autumn of 2009. Alexandros is responsible for developing Impact Forecasting’s probabilistic extreme weather models for Europe and he is currently leading the weather risk modelling team in Europe. In addition, he manages Impact Forecasting’s long-standing cooperation with the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research in Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).  

His background lies in the field of climatology, including atmospheric dynamics and climate modelling, surface-atmosphere interactions, global warming and anthropogenic climate change, assessment of the long-term meteorological forest fire risk and remote sensing.

Prior to joining Aon, between 2008 and 2009, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Space and Atmospheric Physics (SPAT) group in Imperial College London. Before that, in 2007 he worked as a researcher in the Geography Department at the University of Sheffield, where participated in the validation and development of an Iceberg detection and tracking system from ESA SAR images.

Alexandros holds a PhD in climatology from the University of Sheffield and an MSc in climate change from the University of East Anglia in Norwich. 

Costas Synolakis

Professor of civil engineering at the University of Southern California

Costas Synolakis is an internationally acclaimed scholar focusing on the impact of natural hazards, and climate change His research into the causes and effects of tsunamis and extreme flooding events has played an important role in influencing policy decisions and disaster recovery programs worldwide. His current work focuses on understanding unusual tsunami amplification phenomena and the impact of a changing climate upon extreme weather events.

Synolakis attended the California Institute of Technology for his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. There, he developed the highly cited principle known as Synolakis’ law: the relationship between the height of the solitary wave, the beach slope and the offshore depth.

In 1996, Synolakis founded the USC Tsunami Research Center. The center’s achievements have included the development of MOST the operational code used by U.S. and Australian warning centers for tsunami forecasts. In addition, the center has produced all official state maps for evacuation planning in California. Tsunami warning signs along state beaches are a result of his work.

Over the course of his career, Synolakis has led or participated in scientific expeditions in 21 countries. Additionally, Synolakis’ work has been broadcast by tthe primary world media and major international newspapers. He is featured in a permanent exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

In 2015 and 2019, Synolakis has received the two major awards of the American Society of Civil Engineers. In 2014, he received the Sergey Soloviev Medal of the European Geophysical Union, and the Hamaguchi Award for Tsunami/Coastal Disaster Resilience Technology in 2020. He is a member of the Academia Europaea, and he holds the Chair of Earth Sciences at the Academy of Athens and the is member of the US National Academy of Engineering.

Από νεαρή ηλικία και αφότου εργάστηκε σε πολυεθνικές εταιρείες, εντάχθηκε στο δυναμικό των οικογενειακών εταιρειών KRONOS AE και INTERCOMM FOODS AE, όπου απέκτησε εμπειρία σε διάφορα Τμήματα και στη συνέχεια ανέλαβε διοικητικά καθήκοντα στην INTERCOMM FOODS AE. Είναι μέτοχος σε εταιρείες στον αγρό-διατροφικό τομέα με εξαγωγικό προσανατολισμό, οι οποίες στηρίζουν έμπρακτα την ελληνική οικονομία, αποδίδει κάθε επιτυχία στην ομαδική δουλειά και πιστεύει πως η Ελλάδα μπορεί να αποτελέσει επιτυχώς το θερμοκήπιο της Ευρώπης.

Since 2020, he has been shaping the strategic direction of Interamerican, currently heading the Group’s Corporate Strategy & Transformation function. Δημήτρης Μαζαράκης

Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος ΕΘΝΙΚΗ Ασφαλιστική

Ο Δημήτρης Μαζαράκης εντάχθηκε στην Εθνική Ασφαλιστική τον Ιούλιο του 2024 ως Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος και ηγείται του στρατηγικού μετασχηματισμού της εταιρίας.

Η πορεία του ξεκινά από το 1996. Πριν από την Εθνική Ασφαλιστική είχε ενταχθεί το 1998 στην Alico AIG Life, όπου ξεκίνησε ως Αναλογιστής Ομαδικών Ασφαλίσεων Ζωής, Υγείας και Συντάξεων. Με την πάροδο των ετών κατείχε πολλές σημαντικές θέσεις, όπως Επικεφαλής Αναλογιστικής Διεύθυνσης,  Γενικός Διευθυντής Οικονομικών και Διοικητικών Υπηρεσιών, αλλά και Γενικός Διευθυντής Πωλήσεων & Μάρκετινγκ. Από το 2012 έως το 2018 διετέλεσε Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος της MetLife στην Ελλάδα, ενώ τα τελευταία έξι χρόνια ήταν επικεφαλής της MetLife στις χώρες της Μέσης Ανατολής.

Ο Δημήτρης Μαζαράκης εκτός από την επαγγελματική του πορεία έχει συμμετάσχει ενεργά και σε ηγετικούς ρόλους του ασφαλιστικό κλάδου. Σήμερα είναι Αντιπρόεδρος της Ένωσης Ασφαλιστικών Εταιριών, ενώ στο παρελθόν  έχει διατελέσει πρόεδρος της Ένωσης Ασφαλιστικών Εταιριών Ελλάδος, Αντιπρόεδρος του Εγγυητικού Ταμείου Ιδιωτικών Ασφαλίσεων Ζωής και πρόεδρος της Ένωσης Αναλογιστών Ελλάδος.

Ο κ. Μαζαράκης είναι κάτοχος πτυχίου Μαθηματικών από το Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης, MSc στην Αναλογιστική Επιστήμη & Στατιστική από το City University of London και Executive MBA από το Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών, ενώ είναι πιστοποιημένος Αναλογιστής.

Henry Moazzo

CEO at ERGO Hellas

Henry Moatsos started his professional career in 1988 in insurance, with the legal representative of Royal Insurance in Greece. In 1999 he joined CGU (now Aviva) in Greece as head of underwriting and then became Deputy General Manager. In 2009 he joined AXA Insurance in Greece, as Chief Operating Officer and member of the Executive Committee, before becoming Chief Executive Officer of the organization, from 2014 until 2021. In June 2024 he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of ERGO Insurance.  

Henry Moatsos has served as a member of the Board and of the Executive Committee of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies and is currently heading its Property, Reinsurance, Cargo & Hull Committee. He has also served as President of the Board of the Association of Representatives & Executives of Insurance Companies, member of the Board of the Motor Auxiliary Fund and of the Hellenic Institute for Insurance Studies and non-executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Europe Insurance Company. Also, he was French Foreign Trade Advisor from 2016 to 2022. He holds a Master’s Degree (MA in Management) from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland and an International Executive Programme (IEP) from INSEAD in France. He is married and father of two children.

Διονύσης Μαντάς

Dionysis Mantas is the Head of Smart Cities at the ICT Business IT Solutions Division of the OTE Group since July 2021. In previous years within the OTE Group, he was responsible for new technology solutions (cloud & IoT), contributing to the digital transformation efforts of both the public and private sectors.

He has extensive experience in the information technology and telecommunications sector, which he has served for the past 22 years. He has held senior commercial roles in various telecommunications companies.

Dionysis Mantas holds a degree in Theology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a Master of Sales and Marketing, an MBA from the University of Nicosia, and is currently a PhD candidate at the Athens University of Economics and Business.

Phoebe Koundouri

Professor of economic theory and policy at the Athens University of Economics & Business

Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri, is a pioneer of human-centric, interdisciplinary systems for sustainable interaction between nature, society, and economy. A University of Cambridge MPhil and PhD, she held academic positions: at Cambridge, UCL, LSE, and University of Reading, now she is an Economics Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business and Technical University of Denmark. She is the founder Alliance of Excellence for Research and Innovation on Aeiphoria (200 researchers involved) and she is included in the Stanford University list top 2% of world scientists (19 books, 650 published papers, 100 projects, 120 countries). She is President past of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, Chair of the World Council of Environmental Resource Economists Association, Chair of the SDSN Global Climate Hub, and Co-chair of SDSN Europe (900 universities). She acts as an advisor to the UN, G20, World Bank, European Commission, EIB, EBRD, OECD, WHO, Lancet COVID19 Commission, and Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. Her scientific honors include the European Research Council ERC Synergy Grant, Academy of Athens Award, elected member Academia Europae, European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Trustee World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS) , Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World; InterAcademy Partnership (IAP);  EAERE Fellow, EFI Fellow, member of the Nominating Committee for the Nobel Prize in Economics.

George Gazetas

Professor of geotechnical engineering at the National Technical University of Athens

George Gazetas is an Emeritus Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the National Technical , University of Athens (NTUA, “Metsovion”), in which he served as Professor  for 30 years, following an academic career in the US.  He is an undergraduate of NTUA (Diploma in Civil Engineering) and a graduate of MIT (MS and PhD in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering). His research interests have focused on the seismic response of foundations and soil-structure systems, earth dams, and harbor quay-walls.  Much of his research has been inspired by observations after destructive earthquakes. An active teacher and author of significant journal publications, he has also been a consultant or referee in a variety of geotechnical and seismic problems. Received  several awards for his research, and has delivered some prestigious lectures including the “Coulomb”, “Ishihara”, “Keneth Lee”, and “Michele Maugeri” Lectures. In 2015 he was awarded the Excellence in University Teaching Prize, the ultimate teaching award in Greece. Recipient of the prestigious European Research Council’s [ERC] Ideas ─ Advanced Grant award, he was honored as the 59th Rankine Lecturer, 2019, in London, and as a GeoLegend by ASCE’s Geotechnical Institute in the GeoStrata magazine, 2022.

Panagiotis Stampoulidis

Panagiotis Xenos

Assistant professor of insurance science in the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science at the University of Piraeus

Panos Xenos is an Assistant Professor of Insurance, in the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science, University of Piraeus. He holds a PhD from the University of Piraeus, postgraduate studies from Brandeis University (Massachusetts USA), and Boston University (Massachusetts, USA), as well as having attended a specialized workshop from York University (UK). He has participated in research programs in Greece (“Excellence II”, “Support for researchers with emphasis on young researchers – cycle B” of the Ministry of Development”) and in Europe (Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini and European Commission research program). He has published in Greek and foreign scientific journals of high academic prestige on the efficiency and productivity of public and private insurance and health institutions, the solvency of insurance portfolios, the methods of compensation of medical professions and services, the sustainability of the social security system, etc. He has presented relevant studies at scientific conferences and forums in Europe, Asia and Australia. He is a reviewer of scientific journals and a member of scientific societies.

John Croker

Mr. John Croker has obtained an MSc in Shipping, Trade & Finance from City University, Cass Business School, London, UK and a ΒSc in Economics & Politics from the University of Southampton, UK. He is a second-generation Insurance professional with a family history of more than 75 years in insurance in the UK and Greece. He is also Vice-President of the Hellenic Insurance Brokers Association. 

Yiannis Kantoros

Υiannis Kantοros is the Chief Executive Officer of the INTERAMERICAN Group.

He serves as President of the Hellenic-Dutch Association (HeDA), Chair of the Health Committee, and is a member of both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies.

He has had a distinguished career within the INTERAMERICAN Group, holding several key leadership positions, and has also worked with other major multinational corporations.

He holds an MBA from Cardiff Business School and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
